This was my first "birding" outing with my new lens and whilst I wasn't really looking to experimenting with "panning", with this raptor I had no choice. I like the wing-tip movement here.

Hi Grayham,

You and your new lens did very well to make this wonderful capture.

The image quality is very nice and your panning did what "panning " does, keep the subject in focus and allow the background to blur. The wing action further emphasizes this great bird's quick maneuvers in the sky.

Nice presentation, too.

Best Regards,  Mike

Your comments are always appreciated. Panning for Raptors was the

last thing on my mind when I ventured out with my new lens. This image

was taken some time ago and strangely enough, I've yet to go "panning"

again...... a future trip I hope.

Great job been made here, your brought out this powerful bird amazingly with the 70-200mm lens and obtained very sharp details out of the bird in flight, your timing is remarkable and the blurred back is showing the feel of the bird flying action and also isolating the main subject effectively.

Thank you for sharing it and wishing you all of the best.

I like the diagonal angle of the outstretched wings, the sense of movement and the way the light catches the edges of the birds feathers. Well done Grayham!

....... always nice to have you visit my images. Thank you for your kind words.

I would like to be able to say that I took this image with "accomplished ease" but it was more like a "hit and miss" affair. These guys are so fast, and can change direction within a blink of an eye. So I am pleased with this one.

Thanks again.

..... thanks for your visit. Having only panning experience with motorsport, I suppose I (at least) had an idea. Keeping this guy in the frame was a whole new ball game....... a lot of fun, but I'm glad I managed one presentable image.

Thanks for your kind comments.

Grayham...  I haven't read all the comments above, but agree with all that I have read.  A very difficult shot to make, but you have an excellent capture here... Mike

thanks for your visit and kind comments. This raptor session was the first outing with my "then" new lens.... all experimental. I must make the effort to go looking again, now that I understand the lens better.

Thanks again

This is a wonderful capture. I like the movement in the wing tips, it gives a sense of speed. The head is perfectly in focus and sharp, the background is blurred and not dominant. Great job here Grayham.
