Was taken some days ago at a theater show. A philippin beauty that was born here.

Thanks for viewing.

Pnina, I love the expression on the little girl's face even though I do not know what she is looking at.  I do not know if either of the boys behind her are her companions but she is not involved with them so I feel it is a picture about her and something I cannot see in the environment.  You do have several problems with the original image.

1. it is too dark (notice how the girl's hair has lost texture except in an extreme highlight area.

2. the white balance is not adjusted right.

I cropped the picture to make it about her and use the white of her eye to adjust white balance.  You will have to judge whether I did it good or harm.

Regards,

Jerry

You are completely right it is too dark I worked on it at night and saw this morning that it is too dark.  I think it is now as should be.It was taken at a theater with dim light. Behind her were mothers of the children that I wanted them to be blurred . The children were singing but I wanted to isolate her from the others. Thanks for your helpful commet,I  upload the reworked one.I will change the main one.

Pierre thanks as well.

Pnina, it's a wonderful shot, not as a portrait but as a portrayal of the innocence and exuberance of children.

Its all in the sideways glance and the half suppressed smile as she sings, it conveys the epitomy of child like joyful innocence. Wonderful capture!

I wonder who has caught her attention and inspired this beautiful child's delighted grin. Excellent capture of the feeling of the moment!

I simply love the joyous expression you managed to have caught here, Pnina... The girl's expression feels uplifting and buoyant -- must have been a lovely and happy performance :-)

Star is right! Both versions are very good but the look on her face in the original is priceless. She emerges from the crowd in innocent splendor.

Bright and shimmering.  I like the play on primary colors, which seems to bring everything together sweetly.

Although I see how the alternative version you posted may avoid some of the difficulties Jerry pointed out, it's clearly another photograph.  The young lady's facial expression is materially different.  In my opinion, the darkness of the original does not significantly prevent its impact from shining through.

My best,

michael

Marjolein, it was joyous on one hand and  not so on the other ,as I wrote  before some of the parents are ilegal and the consequences are on the children as well.

El,  thanks nice to see you after some time.

Jack I'm glad that you see the difference  and like both versions ,she really was a star among the other children.

Jeff, you understand nicely  children.. ;-)).thanks

Meir, thanks for your following the thread.

Michael as I wrote before I have changed it to the brighter version. you are right of coures they are two different moments, thanks
