Thank you...I would have loved to see the event take place, but, unfortunately, only came up on him after he was consuming the bird. I think it is another bird of prey which is not typical behavior at all. The reason I think it is another bird of prey is because in other shots in this series, and even here, you can see the claws on the bird along with a hook beak much like a bird of prey has. I wish I really knew...

Great shot.  It's a bird-eats-bird world.  You did a great job with the exposure too, getting the bird properly exposed against the snow.  Aloha.

This is a striking image by any standard.  The colours of the bird against the backdrop of snow looks amazing. Excellent clarity and sharpness too.  Very well done Melissa!
