Cuban little leaguers

Baseball is wildly popular in Cuba; you can find a pick-up game on

about any vacant lot or park in the country. However, youth, instead

of playing with hide covered balls, must play with hard plastic balls.

Whenever I go to Cuba, I take a half dozen balls with me. When I

find a pick-up game I throw one out on the field. It always takes them

a minute to figure out that it is a real baseball but once they do, there

is an explosion of gratitude and joy. I snapped this photo during the

inspection stage, just before their coach pronounced it to be the real

deal!

Brilliant shot, very aesthetically pleasing, the aura of expectancy and curiosity evident in thier expressions and body language.......and appreciated all the more after reading the kind sentiments behind it.
