The blooming light on the subject makes the entangled roots look like they are just a distant threat.  The open door resembles an escape to an unknown future (at least for me, that is).

Anabela... i luv your travels through your imagination... awesome! this image reminds me of a description of consciousness i just read by literary critic Peter Campion, so i hopped on PN to chime in with something worthy of this image. Campion wrote of "the action of consciousness" as "stitching together the constituent pieces of perception." seems like that tapestry of synapses beneath your thinker is her "stitching", a lot of "stitching" to open that particular door to conscious idea ;-} i luv these images; so engaging...  dp

I have looked at this image and come back to it many times, each time trying to find the right words to express the connection I made with it. For me it epitomises the devastation of the earths resources and our sadness and mourning of thier loss, at the same time the roots symbolise a deeper strength unseen by us, and a vague hope that these invisible forces will at some point play a vital role in our survival........or perhaps fears of our extinction.

In addition to my personal analogy of the image, it is refreshing to see so many others with thier own interpretations of what is an inspirational piece of photo art.
