Thanks for your thoughts.  Yes, these are among the most aromatic blooms.  One of my favourites too.  Best, LM.

Hi Len

The rose in excellent focus and appear in a very beautiful detail and colours.

I wonder if you could isolate the rose from its background. But I know, Camera with small sensor always has a very large ( deep ) depth of field and so it is not helpful for a shallow DOF. This is even true for a FAST lens Camera such as Panasonic LX3. If the subject doesn't already isolated I can do nothing. Best regards

This is about the only time the P&S does an arguably acceptable job on the background.  At max. focal length of 23.2mm & wide open @ f5.6 plus in the Macro mode, for me, the background is OK.  As you say, a PhotoShop solution would render everything except the bloom blurred to whatever degree the artist wants, and I can do that, but I find that this one works for me.  But now that you've placed that suggestion in my head perhaps I'll experiment a bit with it.  Always a pleasure to receive the benefit of your wisdom.  Best, LM.

Len, Very good exposure & details. I have seen these aromatic roses  growing on the road-side hedges in USA. I liked these roses very much. I feel the green leaves are sharing  limelight with the rose.

High Five for these P&S camera's.  While not as robust as their DSLR cousins they do a credible job on those subjects of opportunity that we come across from time to time.  I've printed this one, albeit only to 8"x10", and am most pleased with the result.  The colours work for me too.  Best, LM.

Nice and sharp image with vibrant colors and good composition.  Pretty good for a p & s !

I guess I'll have to take responsibility for the composition but you are right about the colours and the sharpness from these P&S wonders.  Best, LM.

Good of you to drop in.  Thanks for your views.  For the few seconds it took me to photograph this one I was very satisfied with the result.  Another validation of the P&S camera.  Best, LM.

Len, colors are splendid here as is definition. flower seems a wee bit tight within the frame, but than again i may just be nit picking. lovely work!

Coming from someone who apparently has walked the walk in flower photography your comment is most welcome.  (I particularly liked your 'Secrets from the Garden' folder)  I also agree with it.  This was more or less a grab shot taken with a P&S without the aid of a tripod and not enough care was taken in composing it, so it comes back to bite me.  Thanks for taking the time.  Best,  LM.
