wolfgangarnold 142 Posted June 3, 2011 ...outbound Kiel bight, baltic sea. The scene just called for sepia. Enjoy. Link to comment
alfbailey 2 Posted June 3, 2011 Superb nautical scene, with a touch of nostalgia courtesy of the subtle sepia tones. A kind of tribute of traditional to modern that is conveyed very well. Nicely done!Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
imagesbycw 0 Posted June 4, 2011 Yes, the b&w or sepia becomes this subject very well, maybe even a little more sepia? The composition and old (ship) + new (industrial tower) work nicely together. Nice shot! All the best, Claudia Link to comment
leon_roijen 0 Posted June 4, 2011 The way you depict it, shows us this ship in all its glory. Great sepia tones! Link to comment
wolfgangarnold 142 Posted June 8, 2011 many thanks for your encouraging comments!@Claudia: well, you might be right about a bit stronger sepia - I might have been too careful, yet I wanted to avoid overdoing it (and slipping into 'kitsch'), because the subject already conveys quite a sense of nostalgia.cheers,Wolfgang Link to comment
imagesbycw 0 Posted June 9, 2011 Hi Wolfgang, yeah, there is always that danger of 'kitsch', so you are right to be careful. But like everything else, what is 'kitsch' for one is the most beautiful piece of art for the other. And this is your piece of art and you prefer it in very soft sepia. I still think it would work very well with a little more - have a look - but in the end it is a question of what impression YOU want to convey, and then do, what you think is best, right?! Still like your version and I absolutely love the ship!! Link to comment
