This is a real joy to view, the long exposure with the ferry movement really works, great detail and lighting. The rows of foreground uprights are a like a continuing horizontal flow that starts with the ferry lights.

@Alf: you've pointed out what I also like most about this photo - though admittedly, I realised only afterwards that foreground (which I intended only to be kind of stairs or steps into the picture) and ferry lights are visual variations of each other.

@Jörg: it is a passenger ferry.

I too very much appreciate the receding rows of the foreground colors, hues, and textures of the wharf piles in this photo, Wolfgang. An altogether beautifully composed image. The long exposure surely paid off..! Did you take many captures of this..? I saw that you used a 30 sec exposure?  Best regards, Marjolein

many thanks for your comment. Yes, it was a 30 seconds exposure. On this occasion I only took few photos (also due to long exposure :-)) of the ferry - I was more focused on the (yes, stereotypical) sunset that happened in the other direction. While looking around I noticed the inbound ferry and gave it a few tries.
