Great work Dave, it got my attention right now. I like the subject & I like how the exposure is right on. Good detail in the shadow. Was just a little curious about the name of the church.

I didn't take much time, but I did go to their website and still don't know what the Day3 refers to.

Thanks for the view and comment.

Yikes!  Hadn't thought of that. No more comments and photos. I'm going to start trying to save my behind.

a church founded in 2002 (source: internet) with 500 members and you find it... you profile it appropriately

Yes, in America there is a new church springing up almost every day in an abandoned movie theater, a strip mall, or even an old casino. It seems that anybody can become a preacher by hanging out a sign declaring him/herself one. And, most sadly of all, they always find true believers.  America is awash with charlatans selling one form or another of snake oil. And they are followed by a cadre of seekers who fear their own existence so much that they must chase after the afterlife with all the fervor they can muster. There are those who think a church on every corner cannot be bad. I do not count myself amongst them.

I'm particularly intrigued with how the church names bear no resemblance or hint of what's contained within.  As least with the tried and true labels "Presbyterian....Methodist....Catholic"  you kind of knew what was waiting on the other side of the doors.  But "Day 3"?  I guess I'm a traditionalist after all.  Perhaps you can get a tub of popcorn for the show.

It is a short time for a church....;-)) as usual your eyes always find the unusual the human being invents....;-)) Well composed , If I were you I would have been curious to find what is behind that  funny name....;-))

A noticeably stark presentation, which this somewhat deco building deserves. You've run with the artifice of an era and presented it boldly. The sky takes on a graphic rather than atmospheric feel. Everything here is so even-handed, which does emphasize the overall symmetry. Though the trees are similar in tone, the difference in their shapes offsets that symmetry.

Frankly, I love seeing movies in old movie houses like this. There are a couple left in the Bay Area, the Castro being the most popular. It's interesting that these kinds of churches are taking over as Hollywood moves to the multi-plex malls. There are similarities!
