A reference to Jonathan Livingston Seagull?  Very clever.  It's a great shot of the gull, though I'd be curious to know how you shot or created this.  It looks manipulated to me, which is okay of course.  I would only wish that you would tell us how you did it.  BTW, you have a spectacular architecture series in your portfolio!

Thank you very much for you comment Christal!

Actually this whole series of seaguls comes directly out of the camera. The only changes are crop & contrast. This was taken on a cruise ship. I was standing on the 4th deck and there was a gentleman on a blacony 10 yards away to the side throwing bread to the gulls. They would swoop down towards the sea to catch the pieces and then would slowly work their way up towards 4th deck level. This way I had guls flying at the same speed as the moving ship (therefore motionless from my point of view) and at a slight down angle from where I was standing hence the blured sea (with bow waves) in the background.

I'm glad you like my photos... cheers, Nick

I love the angled composition and the contrasting colours. There is a predominant naughtical atmosphere to the image that I find really appealing.

Very well done Nick!

Alf
