Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted February 11, 2011 This image of the Battery on St. John's Newfoundland harbor is best viewed in large mode. It's a straightforward image that captures a slice of life in Newfoundland. I appreciate and value your comments. Thanks. Link to comment
bill_brown8 0 Posted February 11, 2011 I like straightforward images. This is very nicely done with clarity and richness of colour without being oversaturated. Well done. Link to comment
corbin 0 Posted February 11, 2011 The beautiful light makes the colors pop. You should crop the bit of the bright white house all the way to the left, it brings the eye out of the frame. Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted February 12, 2011 It looks like every bit of level space is fully utilised at the bottom of the sheer cliff face. The larger view really brings it all to life, great colours and detail.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted February 12, 2011 Thanks, Bill, Claude, and Alf. Claude, I was considering cropping the left building to its corner, but think it might get the image too close to that pier with the ladder. I will look at this more; I may be able to darken the front to accomplish the same thing. Thanks, y'all for the nice comments. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted February 20, 2011 Great shot and I agree with all of the nice things have already been said about this image. I am with you re the crop suggestion. For me there is a certain balance between the house on the left with one on the right.I have viewed the image larger and you can appreciate it even more. The only thing that I see that I would attempt to do differently is try and achieve some details (if possible) in some of the large shadow areas. Even if this was not achievable, it would still be a very fine image - one that I would have loved to have taken myself. All the best and thanks for your visit to one of my images recently. Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted February 21, 2011 Thanks, Tony. As you know, I value your candid view. This is an old slide image that I took in 2003. I will try working with the limited scan I have to see if I can achieve definition on that big shadow. I have learned a lot since 2003. Thanks again. Link to comment
