olafdevries 0 Posted February 3, 2011 The idea, being a personal aproach and style is fine..!!! However, the tallest person even standing higher, is standing rather stiff and is just too tall for this format. More distance and the persons a bit closer to each other would have been better. My biggest "problem" :) is the white (!) bag even having a plastic look. Did just react to encourage you in your ideas..! Here, the point however is the finishing touch while composing. Succes..! gilles_lacoste 0 Posted February 3, 2011 I like it. Great sensibility. Good tonality. Bravo. Link to comment

crow0806 18 Posted February 4, 2011 I like it because it tells a story, but I'm not sure what what the story is. I have my own ideas but it would be nice to know more. Link to comment

pmj 6 Posted February 14, 2011 Please note the following: This image has been selected for discussion. It is not necessarily the "best" picture the Elves have seen this week, nor is it a contest. Discussion of photo.net policy, including the choice of Photograph of the Week should not take place here, but in the Help & Questions Forum. The About Photograph of the Week page tells you more about this feature of photo.net. Before writing a contribution to this thread, please consider our reason for having this forum: to help people learn about photography. Visitors have browsed the gallery, found a few striking images and want to know things like why is it a good picture, why does it work? Or, indeed, why doesn't it work, or how could it be improved? Try to answer such questions with your contribution. Link to comment
john_a5 0 Posted February 14, 2011 No offense to Bozena, but is this now the Bozena Nitka of the Week (BNOW) instead of the POW?!? Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 14, 2011 Maybe the elves have something in mind by choosing these two in a row. If they do have something in mind, it doesn't interest me. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted February 14, 2011 The BN of the week... sort of has a nice ring to it. A promise I made to Josh does not permit me to say any more. Link to comment
pmj 6 Posted February 14, 2011 Sorry folks, my fault entirely. I relied too much on checks in the software and ran on auto pilot this evening. I hope you'll be able to enjoy the photo nonetheless. Link to comment
john_a5 0 Posted February 14, 2011 Patrick, I think the issue is that much was said about the image last week that applies to this one as well. From a technical point of view, the image seems fine--tonality and such, but it suffers from some of the same issues as last weeks as far as staging. It is difficult to go much further with this one. The issue here is that it reads more like a problem with the young model rather than a moment captured or a story being told. It seems fruitless to go much further or give it much more thought. We have had two (POW's) in a week before, maybe this is a good time to do another of the same... Link to comment
stp 6 Posted February 15, 2011 Yes, maybe some of the same issues as the previous photo, but I think the current photo is an improvement. I like the density emphasis on the mother and daughter relative to the background, and I also like the fact that Bozena has chosen to not reveal most of the mother's face. Finally, I think the girl is a bit more believable in this particular photo. Nevertheless, I agree with John A. that two POWs in a week (with this one lasting a day) would probably be preferable and generate more interest and discussion. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 15, 2011 I feel the last week POW did not have what it deserve and this is a continuity for this photographer skilled work, why not ?, this image is also very appealing and of very high quality, all lighting, contents and composition, I do not mind at all having it here on the first page. Great image as its previous one. Link to comment
