alfbailey 3 Posted January 28, 2011 (CLICK IT for a w i d e r view) This shot represents the results of 4 trips to this location, just to try and get the conditions right.........still I suppose 1600 miles doesn't sound much if you say it quick. When I arrived the water was flat calm, by the time I got my gear out of the car and walked 500 yards, huge waves appeared from no where. I won't repeat the expletives suffice to say I wasn't a happy bunny........but I waited untill finally....the wind dropped again. Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Thank You. gardena 0 Posted January 29, 2011 The diagonals lines of the hills and their reflections seem to create an enfolding, welcoming 'bowl'. Perfectly timed and arranged. Link to comment
benhuybrechts 0 Posted January 29, 2011 It was certainly worth the waiting. The diagonals leading to the center make it a very strong picture. Ben Link to comment

elportebonheur 0 Posted January 29, 2011 There are hundreds of perfectly boring landscape photographs out there and a way to stand head and sholders above the crowd is to make the viewer feel something – and that is here the case, definitely! Obviously the countryside is for you a continuous source of inspiration. To cut a long story short: landscape photography doesn't come much better than this! Chapeau Alf! Link to comment
amrjustem 0 Posted January 29, 2011 Worth all the miles that you drove and then some. I love the color / light. Just beautiful. And the way that everything leads to the middle of the picture, from the top and from the bottom. Very Very Nice! Link to comment
trisha jean-angela 5 Posted January 29, 2011 Absolutely worth the 1600 miles and the wait for the perfect calm! I like the horizontal crop; it really brings the eyes to the tree line and the calm water. Wonderful work. Thank you for sharing. :) Link to comment
hamidfarzandian 0 Posted January 29, 2011 Excellent high quality landscape panoramic view with amazing sharpness, depth, composition, color and light management. Reflection added so much value and scale to whole scene, as well as ripples which injected life and energy to it. Brilliant shot. I found no additional view point to cite for its improvement. It is already perfect! Bravo.Hamid. Link to comment

vbirke 0 Posted January 30, 2011 A magical aura and powerful stillness are intrinsic parts of this wonderful image. The special reflections and symmetries generated by them combined with the very beautiful colors are the governing image elements making this work (and place) very special.Having my main interest in landscape photography (as you know) I can say 1) it is exactly the kind of landscape photography I get always fascinated and 2) I can imagine that this must be a very special, wonderful spot you and others must enjoy a lot whenever one get the opportunity to get there.Bw, Volker Link to comment
3m 0 Posted January 30, 2011 Wow....Alf :-) You sure must be very persevering, but perseverance for something that's worth waiting for ( and driving all those miles for ) surely has paid off...! A truly impressive landscape capture. I especially like the way you framed this, and kept the water line in the middle of your capture, thus creating a beautiful symmetry of diagonal lines, reflections and colors. Really lovely! Best regards to you, Marjolein PS: BTW, I noticed that you got the D700 ( and used the 50 mm lens with this)..? How are you liking it? Link to comment

ndj 0 Posted January 30, 2011 A gorgeous location, superbly photographed, Alf! Sounds like you've put in a lot of effort to get this shot. I wasn't there of course but this looks to me to be worthy of all the trouble. Brilliant shot! All the best,Neil Link to comment
t37traveler 0 Posted January 30, 2011 Absolutely gorgeous, and the horizontal crop is perfect. Love the dynamics of the geography and reflection pulling the eye to the shoreline, but just a little to the left of center thanks to the gulch on the hill and the break in the trees. I also really, really like the rich muted earth tones commented by the tiny highlight provided by the little white house (or boat house?). Beautifully seen and executed! Link to comment
johnroberts 0 Posted January 30, 2011 Has to be viewed large. An amazing shot Alf, definitely one of your very best.Regards.......John Link to comment

tibig 0 Posted January 30, 2011 Alf, I really admire your perseverance. The image is beautiful, it has the capability of attracting you into it. The shore line with the symmetric fanning out shapes of the valley behind and it's reflection in front give a feeling of speedy punching through a barrier, so your tranquility is a very dynamic one. That makes the shot an outstandingly interesting one. Very well done!Regards, Tibi Link to comment
richard hans 0 Posted January 30, 2011 Such a peaceful & elegant scenery, the magical reflection makes nice effect of symmetry, and wide panorama add more comfortable & refreshing feel, great capture again! Best regards Link to comment
