marcadamus 1 Posted December 9, 2010 OK, so here I was on Mars...oh, wait.....what? The Arizona desert you say? Yes, it actually does get pretty strange.... There's two of these images, similar in the sci-fi type mood and art. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on both of them. Yes, I do realize how weird this may look if you weren't out there ;-) The point here for me is weird, fascinating, surreal, etc. That's what this place is all about. The clouds helped considerably. melloncollie 0 Posted December 9, 2010 wow man i cant believe it! i mean not the reality of this scene, but the visual impact of the photo. it is wicked, pure magic. Link to comment
rekaras 0 Posted December 9, 2010 What really makes this image for me is that one lone star on the the right center top of the so called temple. It is a small element but add just the right impact. Maybe it's an alien craft in the distance returning to it's home base here on earth. Anyway great shot. Best regards rek. Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted December 9, 2010 The movement in the cloud, mirrored by the volcanic looking rock gives the impression of being sucked into a giant vortex, and my eyes are drawn to the epicentre "the Alien Temple". The glow from the sky actually reminds me of the Aurora Borealis with the stars shining through. Surreal and thoroughly captivating.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted December 9, 2010 This proves that with good photography we create art. We don't take pictures. I will look at this again, larger; but I see some great stars too. Wonderful use of lines. Thanks for sharing this, Marc. Wonderful. Link to comment
miles_morgan 0 Posted December 10, 2010 Well, you definitely picked the right day to head out of town. The next day we came back here and Steve worked this section pretty hard. I personally barely took my camera out of the bag, because we had 50mph winds and sand EVERYWHERE... not a cloud in sight. I LOVE that there are some evening stars here. Magic. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted December 10, 2010 Miles, thanks. I was back and forth here a few times. This was taken a good week or so before I met you. The other two were taken during the night you were there. Link to comment
melloncollie 0 Posted December 10, 2010 Mark! i have a question: previously you said you use the nikon 14-24mm wide angle lens. i understand about the adapters and lack of autofocus, but how about the filters? can you use a circular polarizer on this one? or is it useful in your wide angle photography/ how about gradual systems, did they fit on this lens? kts 0 Posted December 10, 2010 pays to be in the right place at the right time.....fantastic shot Marc.....love the cloud motion and Orions belt peekin' thru Link to comment
gaule 0 Posted December 10, 2010 The splayed, fan-like cloud formation is to some extent the result of the use of a wide-angle lens, but what makes this photo so special, I think, is the unique correspondence, even in colour, between the sky and the striated rock formation below. I wouldn't go so far as to call this 'alien' or even 'surreal', but you certainly have all the ingredients of a very striking image. Link to comment

ndj 0 Posted December 12, 2010 This is definitely my fave of the alien series Marc! The sky, and foreground just come together so well in this one! Awesome work! All the best,Neil Link to comment
snapshot1 0 Posted December 17, 2010 This is my favorite of the "aien" series too. The sky really adds to the impact in this one. I might lighten the foreground a bit to bring out the texture. Same with the other two. I am straining to see detail - or is that the intent? Link to comment
w-j-li 0 Posted October 14, 2011 Great! All of yours are great. Is this the White Pocket? Best Regards, Link to comment
