Alex 0 Posted November 14, 2010 I think you nailed the image. The lighting is very pleasant, the balance between natural light and fill is nice and natural, I wjould like to see a catchlight on the eyes but not a biggie I guess. The skin color and pose is also very nice you could provably retouch that fly away hair (specially the one sticking out on the left side)Overall I like your work a lot. One more thing and perhaps insignificant. Whatever that white thing is floating right behind her does not help the image. But that would have required a different location I guess.CongratsAlex Link to comment
tore 10 Posted November 14, 2010 Thanks Alex, the "white thing" is pollen from the trees on the Beach. after this session I always bring some tool to be able too clean the environment. you learn something every time you do a session :)Best regards Tore Link to comment
jerrymat 5 Posted November 14, 2010 I agree with all that has been said, but would add that in a photo like this I would like to see a smile, a happy face of someone having fun! Her expression looks like she has her knee on a sharp rock but is putting up with it for the sake of the picture.jm Link to comment
tore 10 Posted November 14, 2010 Thanks for your comments, I don´t think the rock was the problem but the water was pretty cold :)I agree that expression is of high impotence in this type of shoots, but I'm not sure the model always have to smile. I bought a book about some of Gil Elvgrens work and I guess he use a smile on 75% of his paintings but not on all.Best regards Tore Link to comment
setsail728 15 Posted November 15, 2010 I think the technicals of the photo are right on. I do agree that the pollution in the water is distracting. I don't know what to make of her expression. I agree it doesn't have to be all smiles or all sad but the confusion (in my mind anyway) is also a bit distracting from the overall photo. But it is a beautifully executed photo of a rather striking model! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 15, 2010 If only the expression of your model said something other than "I am not comfortable or I am straining" I feel too that the light is far to complicated - and a highlight at the tip of the nose? Link to comment
