This is a good image Raymond with an interesting subject. However in my opinion I would not have blurred the background. Best regards!

I quite like the treatment, it gives a distinctly painterly quality to the image that I find appealing. Interesting to note the visible house numbers too. Ideally it would have been set deep in the woods and not next to the road, but I think you've done a great job with the subject.

Best Regards

Alf

Thanks Trisha for your kind comment. I am trying to explain the method used here to achieve this effect.

1. Open the image using photoshop software

2. Duplicate layer.

3. On the top layer go to Filter, blurr, motion blurr

4. A window will appear which lets you adjust the angle and distance of the blurr

You will end up with a totally blurred photo.

5. Pick up the eraser tool from the side tool bar and erase the areas that you need in sharp focus.

Hope this will give you a good lead to experiment and end up with pretty good artistic photos. Congrats.

Thank you for those instructions...sounds like I can achieve it once I figure out what 'layers' are and how to go there. Thanks for your help...I'm looking forward to learning new things! :)

A truly lovely and artistic result. I also like the treatment and i appreciate your openness in sharing your technique with Trisha and everyone else.  The light here is delicious along with the rich greens. Congrats on a fine image.
