Yeah I know more boats ......I can't help it, I'm a boat addict, and every

time I visit this place I'm drawn to them. I thought i'd try a different

composition this time though, does it work for you? Your thoughts and

comments are always appreciated. Thank You.

I like the colors, but what really caught my eye was the composition / angle of the boats.  And, I am a sucker for wooden boats.

good one alf !  the alignment of the boats gives me something to follow.  also, the colors and composition are fantastic.  i would be tempted to take out the two shadows on the left bottom side of the picture that stand out.  but with or without it, it's really good.

my favorite part is the colors on the far end of the water. :)

Excellent work Alf! Love those wooden boats too! Fantastic textures in the boats, lovely light, and wonderful soft colors. The long exposure gives this a softer, dreamier look than your previous images.

All the best,
Neil

Alf, Beautifully done. The light is wonderful and the color tones, particularly in the boats, are very rich. I really like the textures of the pebbles agains those of the boats.

So beautifully done Alf.  These boats certainly are 'classics' in every sense. Although not as fancy as we often see....yet wooden boats are always a 'love' of mine.  A very peaceful shot. Detail, color, light...it all is excellent. Wonderful capture and processing. Most sincerely, Gail

Hi Alf,

Wonderful scene with warm and great color. I would have liked to see a landscape version of this with a slightly wider angle to take in all the boats but this is still excellent. Especially like the cotrast of color between the boats and the rest of the image. Very eye-catching....

Best Regards,

Holger

Lovely Composition - all the boats pointing along a radius of a wheel whose center is the brightest part of the sky. The fact that the boats are mostly not painted but show the wood of which they are constructed adds to the charm.

Great one :) I love the colors, clarity and composition.  You could hone in just on the boats, but I reckon you have already done that pic :) Best regards,

I think you have the perfect composition for this shot.  Of course, the colors and detail are outstanding as usual.  I especially like the reflection and colors in the lower left.

Very impressive.  This is so glossy and well done.  The sheen in the sky and water makes me wonder how you accomplished such a smooth finish.  Applause!!

I really like the angle of the boats. It's a beautiful composition with interest.  A nice place to sit and relax and admire the view.  Thank you for sharing.  Gail

Don't know how you could improve on this, Alf.  The lighting is extraordinary.....is this a combination of exposures?  If so, it's seamless.  Great work!

Beautiful colors and composition.  Like so many of your photographs, there is a combination of serenity in nature with plenty for the eye and imagination to explore and enjoy.  I love the detail in the wood, different arrangements of paddles (like knives and forks before and after a meal), the soft reflections on the lake, and the details of stones, decorative orange boat bottoms, skylight, mountains to hike.  It's a beautiful scene with boats inviting us in.

Alf, your boats never bore me, especially clinker built ones like this as I have fond memories of one - built however much wider than this so it that no matter how we rocked it we never could tip it over. It is languishing in a state of disrepair now - the keel is damaged and we don't know anyone who can still repair clinker dinghies like this. I helped my father replace some of the planks when I was in high school - all that steaming and riveting - it was quite an education. He learned how to make the steamer for the planks from an old issue of 'Popular Mechanics' as I recall. My father died last year, so these memories are quite precious. I'll try to get a shot of it next time I go home to NZ but it isn't well situated like these ones. Warm regards, Adrienne

Beautiful wooden boats set in a lovely scene....how could one get bored with seeing these Alf! The colors are pleasing and super clarity make this presentation so well accomplished. I don't know what you could have done to improve on this, it really is striking. Nice work my friend

Warmest regards, Pamela

Like Bill said I am sucker for wooden boats too. It's very good lit. Maybe I would try to take a shot from another angle/position just to avoid a building on the right side. Maybe even further than that, I would crop off complete background, the upper third of the immage and leave only the boats..

I really like this photo. Whenever I see a photo that I think to myself "I would love to hang this in my house," I know it's a good one. I felt this when I saw your photo. Good job!

Wonderful technique and composition, the dof and sharp focus really highlights the wooden boats allowing the viewer to appreciate the detail and craftsmanship.  The quiet muted backdrop also helps to showcase the boats.  There is a lovely contrast between the warmth of the natural wood finishes and the blues of the hills and skies.  Very nicely done!

Taking advantage of a wide lens staying close to the foreground gives this excellently exposed  image a wonderful perspective. Excellent composition and the tone contrast of the boats against the background really stands out. Beautiful, just beautiful! Kind regards, Alf. - Lester
