Colorful and very nicely composed at an angle. Sharp with good details. A sight of rural mail boxes that are getting less and less with decline of postal service and surge of digital messaging.

You could categorize it it rural.

Errmm maybe "Street" But yeah, definately photo - worthy. I'm always fascinated by the myriad of shapes colours and artistic extremeties the owners of mailbox's go to, in order to be individual and perhaps original. I wonder if the ones with BIG boxes get any more mail than their smaller counterparts ? I wonder if owners with doors are more introvert than those without, then theres colour, shape height, numbering......the possible permutations between owners characteristics and thier mailbox designs are endless. Of course we just have letters box's (slots in the front door) in the UK which don't lend themselves to the same levels of customising, so perhaps you'll forgive me rambling on.

Great thought provoking shot!

Kind Regards

Alf

Ifti, you are so right.  While my mailbox used to be stuffed with mail, now my email box is stuffed with mail.  I understand there is a 'do not call' list for the Internet.  I'll have to sign up for that one day.  Thanks for your lovely comments on this image.

Alf, you always bring a smile to my face.  Gosh, you could write a whole book on the psychology of mailboxes and their owners.  :-)  I think in secret you're just jealous that you don't have a psychedelic or neon mailbox to show off your outgoing personality.  ;-)  Seriously.....we're getting ready to downsize to a smaller house, and it will have a mailbox attached to the brick right by the front door.  I'm so looking forward to that.....now I have to trek through ice, snow, sleeting rain and humidity to get to my mailbox, and I can't say that I like it.  BTW, our mailbox is a big plain black one.....hmmmm...wonder what that says about our personalities!  :-)  Thanks for the visit and for the chuckle!

This is how I remember my youth.    Thanks for bringing back good memories of another age.  You have a good composition with excelent colors.  My goodness...I have lived in the big city too long.

good pov and composition... though i've seen such colorful and individualized arrays in the streets of Manhattan too, so i guess it isn't true that emails are obliterating snail mail... a less oblique shot would have perhaps been a little more interesting... one could have read the names and such

I like it a lot. THe various sizes and colors all lined up in a row, certainly make for a nice perspective. I love all the weeds growing up and around them.

Thanks for your visits and comments.  I 'worked' this scene pretty hard, so I'm glad you like it.  My patient husband sat in the car as I got out, stood in the middle of a country road, and took this shot.  At first I actually drove beyond it, then turned around.....knowing that I'd kick myself if I didn't get out and take a few pictures of it.  Rajat, you have a point certainly.  But the thing that really captured my interest was the white 'Herald' mailbox......I immediately knew that I wanted to call this image 'Heralding the Mail'.  I didn't take any shots that were more direct.

Christal...  I guess this scene is pretty universal and brings back memories of growing up in LA (Lower Alabama); well, except we didn't usually have the paper holders.  You know, we'uns down here can't read ;-)... A very well composed shot... Mike

I think it's a great shot Cristal.  Colorful, bright, detailed and very original.  When we lived in the country, we had to have our own mailbox on the road, but kids and 'older kids'  used to wreck havock with them, so they all got changed to 'super boxes'.  Something like one big box with locked compartments.  And we then had a bit of a trek to go get the mail.  I loved Alf's 'dialogue'.....he sure brightens up a day  with his ramblings.....You're lucky you'll have your mail delivered to your door.  Very nice shot and glad you posted it.  Looks like you have your computer woes behind you.....must make you feel much better.  You'll be glad once you are moved...such a long 'haul'.....congrats, Gail
