I like angle of view, that focus on butterfly wings. Flowers itself washed out, and make it less attractive. Also, it can be even better if background get little bit darker.

With all my best,

Enny,

Thanks for the nice compliment!  I'm sort of partial to the pastel background myself.  Totally unintentional - it's the brick from the pathway and stems of the other flowers.

Nice! The only times I get to see a buckeye butterfly in Seattle is in late springtime at the enclosed butterfly exhibits here. You are fortunate to be able to see and photograph them in their natural habitat.

Technically, I find this to be a very nice photograph. A more narrow aperture will bring more of the butterfly and some of the flowers into sharper view, but you need to decide on that. I would have chosen a more narrow aperture setting to bring more into sharpness. I also would have cropped it differently, but i consider cropping to be a personal preference of each photographer. Your is just as good as mine, but they would be different.

Shawn - many thanks for the kind words!  I had not thought about a different crop but have been playing around with cutting out a bit more of the left side and about a third of the bottom.  Haven't decided if I like it better or not!
