lb1 0 Posted August 12, 2010 Clouds and indirect sunlight created an impressive sky last week. All comments welcome. :-) Link to comment

wade_youngblood 0 Posted August 13, 2010 Absolutely gorgeous! You are fortunate to live somewhere so beautiful. Wonderful composition as well. My only suggestion is regarding the horizon; it is tilted ever-so-slightly to the right.Great work! Link to comment

lb1 0 Posted August 13, 2010 @all: Thx for your encouraging comments, dear friends.@Wade: Thank you, Wade. I have to agree, that these places are absolutely wonderful, especially in the early morning light. But unfortunately such places are getting more and more rare, because of what we call here the "industrial agriculture". 30 years ago it was much easier to find such places, but in the meantime nature is more and more threatened by civilisation. Very sad. :-( Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted August 14, 2010 Beautiful soft morning light and reflected clouds with nicely detailed foreground vegetation, there is a real sense of peace and tranqulity in this image. My only concern is the dark post / tree stump in water maybe draws too much attention, though I appreciate that you have to photograph what is there.Great Shot!RegardsAlf Link to comment
vbirke 0 Posted August 14, 2010 I entirely agree to you, more and more such places are vanishing unfortunately or endangered / jeopardized, which is a real mess - where did you take this shot by the way? Really beautiful shot. BR / Volker Link to comment
lb1 0 Posted August 17, 2010 @Alf: I thought about the stomp and have made another submission without it - when i face the stompless version i miss something, while i here agree to you, that the stomp draws attention away from the river. It is probable a bit a matter of taste, whether you find this element disturbung or interesting...@Volker: This is a small river, the Lune, in Lower Saxony, Northern Germany - near Bremerhaven. There is another sweet little river near Bremerhaven, the Geeste - but in both cases the right location is important for getting natural shots. In some sections they have made with the digger a better canal from these rivers - straight and boring. Here near Hollen the river shows its full beautiness with the curves and the natural vegetation. A real pleasure to be there, especially in the early morning. :-) Link to comment
vbirke 0 Posted August 22, 2010 Thanks, Lutz - it is good to learn and actually see that not all natural parts of these small rivers, you've mentioned and of which you're showing us such amazing images, had been destroyed in the past - very often by oversized hydraulic engineering measures (chiefly between the sixties and the eighties). Fortunately, some parts of those rivers were left untouched... And, today, hydraulic engineering is more and more utilized to renaturalize some of those formerly canalized rivers (where it makes most sense, especially regarding prevention of flood waters)...
