This is the Bush from which I isolated the above shot by choosing a single flower rearranging  the branches to get as clean a BG as possible. No branches were broken or flowers plucked.

I am sure there are many ways to get the same or even better results than

this one. This is my simple method. to isolate, visualize the whole frame

and click. Shot in raw adjusted in PSCS3, Moderate contrast with curves.

Resized in Picasa. Love to hear from you. Regards. ifti.

This is lovely bush from which you chose this flower, and I like the detail and textures in the petals as well as the soft light.

Nice work Ifti!

Iftikhar, really like the simpleness of your presentation. the patches of light in b/g add nothing to your image. think would enhance image if you were to isolate flower and leaves and drop on a black b/g. another format which could also be of interest would be to try portrait.  your color yellow is also very strong. nice work.

Very pleasing shot with good color saturation. These are not easy flowers to capture and you have doe a good job.. Composition is a little too centered for me but that is personal taste. You might try flipping the shot to see if that changes the dynamisc of the photo. - Charles

I offer another, punchier, version.  One that reflects MY artistic bias.  Neither is right or wrong but simply a matter of preference.  Your version could very well be the more accurate one.  The single isolated bloom portrays the fine details that are likely lost on an overall view of the bush or plant that produces them.  Good idea to show both views.  Great result for you efforts.  Best, LM.

Len, I like your version better.  The yellow is brighter and so are the green leave. Please share what steps you took to achieve this result.

Yesterday I had time and took 1/2 a day class in Lightroom-3  and hope I will put it to a good use.

Thanks for giving me your time. Regards, ifti.

A bit of levels adjustment & a tad increase in contrast is all.  A light hand is best.  Too much adjustment and things begin to LOOK manipulated, a condition to be avoided.  Best, LM.

Iftikhar - Very nice shot. I have to admit that I prefer Len's version. Even though post-processing can achieve what Len did, something I have learned is that a predominance of yellow in a scene causes the metering to under-expose. I usually adjust  (+.6 or +1) before taking the photo. But I check my histogram on the camera to see if I got it right and if necessary I make another adjustment and shoot a 2nd image. If the surrounding background is dark, you may not need to make this adjustment but the final judge is that histogram with hopefully no registration on the left or right side. Hope that helps.
