GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 18, 2010 In this Compositon I decided to leave in all the distracting wires, plugs, etc so you'd see all the 'confusion' in the background.....then used a slight "Grungy' effect to emphasize the smoke and atmosphere. (this won't suit everyone and I totally understand, comments welcome with thanks, Gail) Link to comment

michaellinder 16,611 Posted July 18, 2010 Well done! The smoke and the other details you mentioned (cords, etc.) lend a surrealistic feel to this shot. Of course, I'm tasking the ribs as I continue to type!My compliments, michael Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 18, 2010 Many thanks for your visit, and thoughts on this image Michael. I often take out the 'messy, noisy, stuff' to centre in on the main suject...but sometimes it leaves part of the story missing......your support is always appreciated Michael....and it has been missed! LOL.....I hope you had a good ' getaway'......sincerely, Gail Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 19, 2010 Hope I can stay online long enough to get a few critiques in.....we have had Tornadoe, Hail, Strong Winds, Rain, Rooting, Pillaging,.....oh sorry got carried away...but strong storms, get to your closet in the basement storms rushing across our Region. Had the computer off for 2 hours, I just turn it on as it is quiet, and now the thunder has started again!!!!.....Oh, you just hang on, soon I'm sure with 'touch technology' they'll have 'Scratch N Sniff' Computers soon....! Thanks for your visit and critique.....things sounding worse out there.....talk again soon...I hope...Gail Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 20, 2010 Thankyou for that very kind critique, your enthusiasum does help as does your support and very good words about the 'weather'....storms are manageable, criticism is manageable.....I think I just have a different way of using words when addressing others. I have good parents who, although we were quite poor growing up, it did not phase me. We were rich in good morals and were taught that a kind word used properly can yield just as good results when getting a point across. I will come and visit your Portfolio, I'm sure there is much I can learn there just by observation. Thankyou for your time taken to comment.....most sincerely, Gail Link to comment
ndj 0 Posted July 22, 2010 Excellent shots of the Rib Fest Gail. I think this is my favorite of the series. The grunge look was an excellent choice in this image I think. The flame frame is perfect as well. Excellent series Gail Makes me hungry just looking through them. All the best,Neil Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 23, 2010 Hi there, so nice to hear from you. I hope the summer weather is 'agreeable' and you're getting a lot of nice shots. I'll have to get over and visit. We just got back today from a few days in Williamsville N.Y. It's always been a fav spot to have a good feed of 'Buffalo Wings'....We go to a place called "Brennans Bowry Bar'. The wings are huge, (an Irish Pub) and their Potatoe Skins are the biggest I've ever had also. Jim hangs out by the pool and I go 'shopping'...! Then dinner is always a treat. Here I am talking about 'food' again. The ribfest was really enjoyable and a good chance for me to take some 'street' type shots. The atmosphere was fun, every thing smelled so good.....and it was much more enjoyable than I had imagined. I had thought there would be little tents with folks with little 'barbies'......wondered about 'food' safety etc. Turns out it was top notch....well organized, and no mishaps that I could see. Thanks for your thoughts on the images.....the 'slight' grunge effect just seemed to emphasize the atmosphere. There was so much smoke....I've yet to find out who won the trophy. Thanks for your support Neil....always appreciated...glad you enjoyed the images. Talk soon, Gail Link to comment
szattler 0 Posted August 1, 2010 Nice composition, nice shot. I miss a little bit, what or better who is essential . You are pushing this boy to much to the background. You are killing his dynamic role in this stories. The red border is to complicated, less is much in this case. Ed Link to comment

shirkwolfe 0 Posted August 16, 2010 Expert enhancements. I love the expression, the impression of smoke, and the unsafe electrical cords. :) Link to comment
