It was not truly accidental, but rather coincidental.

I was adjusting one of the parts of the image when the little 'critters' took the form they now have.  They were there, but not very interesting before.

As I recall, it was a change in the rendering parameters, of one of the image elements, that brought them to my attention.

These images are nearly infinitely complex and you never really know what you will find along the way...

If you don't mind my curiosity, how do you create these images? 
Does the process involve any photography, or is it purely graphic design of some sort?

Sometimes it is one and sometimes the other and occasionally both. ;-))

It can be very involved or quite easy, but there is no way to know in advance...  In any event it is fun and rewarding.  It is also a great learning tool for both graphics and photography.
