Pamela, your portfolio is one that has grown so incredibly........I have missed critiquing many ..........and I apologise.........for you have progressed magnificently.  This composition and the one before it are just an example of your artistry.  You should feel very proud of your accomplishments...sincerely, gail

Wow; Seattle never looked like this the year I lived there! Great job, beautiful image...I love cities at night because they are so alive and this one is definately living well! Thank you for sharing. :)

Your comments are appreciated, this was taken at 12:30 pm on a clear

night with the moon at my back which is what helped to light up the

sky. (f13, 32s, ISO 100, 78mm, WB-tugsten) Thank you ;)

As if I needed a reminder of why I love Seattle. Both shots turned out excellent. I'm trying to figure out your vantage. West Seattle somewhere around Salty's at Alki would be my assumption (although that's a wild guess). Hope you have a great weekend. Jim

Gail, Thank you so much for the encouragement, your words mean a lot to me...no need to apologize! It has been the support of all the fine and talented folks such as yourself that have helped me to grow my skills (still take many bad pictures) Take care my friend, Pamela

Trisha, Thanks! I am so happy that you like this and feel bad that you did not see the Seattle that I know and love...it is a beautiful city with so many beautiful places to visit and yes it is alive! Keep well my friend, Pamela

Jim, I am happy that you like this and hope it brings only good reminders of Seattle ;) Yes West Seattle but above Alki Beach from a tiny view point on the hill. The other two are taken from the boat launch on Alki about a mile from Salty's. Good guess, you are in the right area. Take care my friend, Pamela

Pamela, this is a very interesting image. City lights have been a major theme for many people's photography,  but I can this one has its uniqueness. Quite clear the moonlight provided a quality light to capture the scene. Well done.

This is fanatastic! Incredible detail and lighting. I am really glad you have left all the shot details, you did tell me a while back that the "tungsten WB setting" really brought out the details in night photographs and this is the evidence, a great cityscape!

Nice work Pamela!

Warm Regards

Alf

A beautiful cityscape image. The sky above and the water in front are well proportioned in my opinion and work nicely with the overall presentation. Really very nice.

I've seen quite a few simmilar photos. But must admit you captured fantastic play of different light. Especialy a spotlight on the left is impressive. But the sky confuses me a bit with the colour. IMO clouds are too purple. But that's just my little observation. Cheers, VS

Pamela - Thank you for your recent comment on my Lake Powell photo.  Your comment lead me to discover your lovely portfolio of images (including this dramatic photo).  Your love of photography is clearly expressed in your work.  I live west of Seattle so it was fun to see that you have visited and photographed many of my favorite Northwest places.  Check out my website, www.donpaulson.com if you think you might be interested in going on a photo tour someday...

Best Regards,

Very nicely composed with just the right amount of foreground included to pick up the reflections in the water.  Scenes like this are usually best taken about half an hour after sunset where the sky still retains some colour and detail while yet providing good separation from the buildings.  The clouds in this one do that job admirably, providing separation due to the city lights reflecting off them.  Good exposure provides the much desired details in the darker areas without the larger areas of light actually burning out the details contained there.  A very rewarding result for your efforts it seems.  Best, LM.
