This is a photo of "Cwm Idwal" in North Wales, the clarity of the water

really looked amazing, this was my first expedition with my new 16 -

35mm lens

Your Thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Thank You.

Wow Alf! That's fantastic! I love the unique patterns in the water created by the combination of: the reflection, and the clarity of the water. Superb results from the new lens!

All the best,

Neil

Oh My!! This is a breathtaking view, the reflection and clarity of the water make me want to sit there, take my socks off and dip my little toes into the water ;) Seriously Alf this is a beauty and the new lens might help but it is all you behind the camera!

Take care, Pamela

The clarity of this image is stunning, and it has a very pleasing color pallete. What a wonderful place to explore!

Absolutely magnificent. What a view! The crisp sharpness and the amazing details in the textures are something out of the ordinary. The 16-35 is not that bad and worth every penny. This landscape must be a dream to work in. Beautiful true vivid colors, a very controlled lighting and the reflections on the christalclear water are from another world. I am so happy for you Alf and can`t wait until you present more images from this heaven on earth. Take good care my friend and all the best to you and your family. Your friend in Swe. JS

Hi Alf.

Jannica said it all. Magnificent is the word that came to mind when I looked at this, I would like to add awe-inspiring. That new lens in your hands has captured a breathtaking scene. The crisp detail, the subdued colours are wonderful.

i like very much this kind of landscapes: no spectacular light, clouds, or colors ( which depends on luck very much), but great place, nice elements composed together very good. well seen.

Beautiful photo, seems to be simple and quite complex. I wish I could view it large, or even larger. Best regards, Karoly

Many thanks for your thoughts and kind comments, I was really lucky to capture this lake so still, there is usually quite a ripple on this mountain lake, and this was the first time I had seen it calm. The sharpness of the lens is a brilliant too, I was a bit uncertain about buying it at first, but I have to say I have no regrets now, it's all good so far.

I would have some thermal socks ready to derfost your delicate digits after you dangle them in the deep dam at dawn, : - )

I'm really pleased you liked it Pamela, thank you for your kind and encouraging comments, very much appreciated!

Warm Regards

I know just what you mean, the textures of the submerged stones kind of merge into the reflected rock, it was quite mesmerising to look at.

Sincere thanks for your thoughts and kind comments Michael.

Thank you for looking in and for your kind comments, sometimes the landscapes in this region can look a bit flat and grey, I seemed to catch this shot in a favourable light and didn't have to do very much PP work at all.

Thank you so much! Your help and advice has been invaluable to me! I was a bit apprehensive about buying the 16 -35mm. The guy in the store was very enthusiastic about it, but then he would be, he couldn't get the 17 - 35mm and he is a salesman after all. But I have to say I have no regrets it is a superb piece of kit. The landscape in this particular area can either be a dream or a nightmare, if you have good weather it is very beautiful, but the weather can change here so suddenly and from one extreme to another. It also looks great in stormy conditions too, however it's usually so bad I dare not get my camera out to capture it.Thanks again Jannica, Take Care!

Warm Regards from your friend in the UK

Many thanks for your very kind and encouraging comments, it is quite a steep hike to get to the lake, but worth every gasp and footstep. The scenery is delightful and of course having the right light and lens does help too. Thanks again Linda, much appreciated!

Thank you so much for your kind comments I really appreciate them, as for the 3/3 anonymous rating........well to be honest I treat it with the contempt it deserves and ignore it. People without the courage of thier convictions deserve no less. The people that do matter are the ones with a voice and an opinion, that are commited to honest open debate, that make positive contributions and that encourage others like the majority of people on P.N

Personally I never rate an image without comment, and if I haven't got something helpful or positive to say, then I simply don't comment. Don't let them get to you Linh

Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments. I know what you mean about spectacular sunsets, glorious skys, and vivid colours, if you don't have any of these, you have to make the most of what you do have and I share your views on this. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your very kind comments.

The detail in the larger image is indeed a joy to view (sorry if that sounds conceited to anyone) but unfortunately I can't post the image any larger due to unscrupulous internet thiefs who use the images without permission.

Sincere Thanks & Kind Regards To All

No nits on this image - the pattern and reflection in the water does it for me. The only thing I can suggest is something that I did very little of (if any) on my 6 week road trip last fall was to consider some panoramic shoots. I rated visibly and slightly higher on this image, since I see you got an anonymous three/three. This way you can eliminate me from your guesses. For what it is worth, I got two of them this afternoon around 15:30 (North American Eastern zone) hours.
