Beautiful image; I love the capture of early spring here - the hills alive with blossoms and that beautiful soft misty sky! Is this Tehachipi area? Wonderful capture! Thank you for sharing. :)

A rare vertical from my recent portfolio. I love the landscape orientation, but I often forget to lay the camera on it's side. In fact, I believe that there is no better way to convey depth than to use the portrait composition. For this, the tree fills the upper portion of the frame, while the wildflowers populate the entire bottom half, giving a sense of denseness of flowers. There are some distant mountains, but they only provide a layering of color behind the main subjects. Finally, the few blue dick flowers among the fiddlenecks add a different splash of color. I feel this is the best representation I have yet offered of my current spring collection. I wonder what your take is? Thanks for stopping in!

Thanks Trisha! Wow, you jumped in only seconds after I uploaded this one. This is actually along the foothills of the Greenhorn Mountains northeast of Bakersfield, just above the Kern River Canyon. The name of the road is Rancheria, and it is a beautiful drive right now. This is not far from the Tehachapi area, but it is a separate mountain chain, even though they are all part of the southern most Sierra Nevada mountains. Thanks for the nice comment!

It's springtime in Bakersfield and how I wish I was also there to capture these wonderful fields along I-5 and 99. Very inspiring image! Best regards, Mark - Lester

Mark, Thank you for letting me know where that is...I am not familiar with that part. I must have been really fast...I commented and put in my faves before you had a chance to explain anything! :)

This is truly a very attractive composition, from foreground to background. Nature has been kind to you also in providing such a well formed tree!

Thanks Joao, Lester, Fernando, Bill and PJ! PJ, these stately old oaks are all attractive in their own way. When you are going up into the mountains, they are sparse at first and then become more populated. In the transition, at is always easy to find a single one that stands out!

It is a real joy to look at this photo, so calming and warm. The purple blossoms add a wonderful color detail to the scene, almost like a reward for the wandering eye. The composition is perfect, I like looking at this picture for a long time.

Regards

Marcus
