A sport that so very odddly occupies the minds' of many earthlings of the male persuaision......deep ritualistic roots that go back generations in this species. It has been recorded that many will occupy hastily constructed huts for days while the males bond with one another. .....the one common thread that keeps them from departing from these crude shelters, is a beverage....that has been known to cause hyptnotic states; rendering some helpless to te call of the 'wild'.

It is a these times some are known to mount POWERFUL motorized sleds. OBLIVIOUS to any present dangers, some hae been known to reach tremendous speeds as they take on the challenge of riding over open waters. Those who are fortunate enough to return to their 'shelters built on ice' continue to persue their quest for fresh fish that are brouht back to feed their hungry clan.

However primitive this 'journey quest seems', there is a heirarchy that exists among those who dwell upon the lakes,,,,,here we see a fine example of the dwelllings that are occupied by the 'upper crust'. EXPERTLY CRAFTED and brightly colored they decorate the frozen waters,,,,,,they have 'marked their territory,.....and it is here that the waters yield an abundance of fish that will feed their families during the harsh cold months of the Canadian winter. The tradition lives on until the temperatures threaten to melt the very ice they occupy.

OUR PHOTORAPHER has truly captured one of the finest examples of our HERITAGE. We may seem to be a STRANGE BREW.......but we are CANADIAN !! Many made the PILGRAMAGE to Canada for the Olympic Games where this wonderful shade of RED became a 'SEA OF COLOR' in the streets of many Canadian cities. Thankyou Bill for reminding us of just one of the 'RITUALS' that still lives on in this great vast wilderness we call "HOME" !! Well presented and artisticly framed by the soft bows of the tree that no doubt proveded great camophlague as you captured yet, another fine Canadian Moment.

Wow Gail

You have a way of interpreting and "making an image speak" that is unsurpassed.

I feel honored by your very kind words.

Thank you, Bill

Great observation and perspective, in the words of many a fisherman "Happiness is a rod in your hand" and as Gail suggested a few beers might help keep out the cold too.

Nice work Bill!

Kind Regards

Alf

The red attracts your attention immediately. My mind is looking for a possible crop but decided to leave 'well' alone. With all of my images, I go through a self examination of what is the main subject and does the rest add value. best regards,
