The Pool in the foreground was used by the Monks of Valle Crucis

Abbey for stocking fish, 800 years ago fresh fish was not available, as a

journey to the coast would take days, so the Monks solved the problem

of fish on a Friday with their stock pond, this is the only surviving pool in

Wales. Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated.

Thank You.

Thank you for the information on this pool. It is so nice to read a little history about the location.

Your image is sharp and beautifully exposed. The reflections are wonderful as well.

Best Regards,

Lovely shot of the old Valle Crucis. I like the detail in the Abbey itself with the purple of the braken in the b/g. The pool's reflection, with the ripples comple an excellent composition.

Cheers mate, the thing I find hard to believe about this beautiful location, is that someone in thier infinite wisdom, granted planning permission for a caravan site right next door, the mind boggles eh, and yayayay! Yeah Everton did it!, the wife was very pleased (She's an Evertonian, we have interesting discussions as you can imagine) Thanks again Barrie.

Very beautiful image. Am I correct in assuming that you used the HDR process to get this final shot? I'm just curious, as I've just recently started to experiment with HDR and this shot seems to be a great example of one. If it isn't, then you've got quite a talent for capturing light.

Beautiful image Alf. I like the serenity of the scene and the beautiful colors of the hill. The two trees on top of the hill seem to stand sentinelle to the ruin of the abey. The reflection is vivid and clear. I just love this kind of image. Well done - michel

MICHAEL

Thank you for your kind comments, but the answer is no, I didn't use HDR. I have been experimenting with HDR myself recently, HOOTON CHURCH on my portfolio is the last one I tried, but this is a single image processed in Lightroom and Photoshop. Thanks again for looking in, much appreciated.

I was lazing on the couch, watching the Olympics and trying to catch up on my rathings the other night, and I dozed off to sleep.........! not out of boredom believe me.......and when I awoke,, this image met my eyes..so lovley, great reflections, love that you included the history Alf.....this place would be perfect for a children's /adult fantasy story........it is a location that reminds me so much of this venue.

This photo has a lot of viewer interest, in particular I like the way the colour of the hill in the background draws the viewers eye into and through the image. Very nicely done.
