Well, your photos are great. You must have a great new camera--or did you perchance have something to do with that?

A slightly smaller aperture would have given you more DOF, but you would have had to use a tripod to compensate for the low light of a de facto slower lens.

I really like this. I think you should put it up for critique.

Ha! - just OLD pots and pans that have seen LOTS of meatloaf through the years.

Haven't played with many of these pictures yet - adjusted the light on a couple of the outside snow pictures.

Trying to decide which ones to put up for critiques.... Any suggestions?

Here is the first shot with my new Sony A500(after I deleted the ones

where I was trying to find all the controls)! Can you tell I'm excited?

I'm still working on figuring out the focus points and in this shot, I was

trying to focus on the engraving.I'm pretty satisfied but would have liked

the edge of the bowl a little sharper. Any thoughts?

I'm going to post others from this first set so please check them all. I'd

appreciate all thoughts and suggestions!

Thanks in advance....

The technical details for this shot don't say what the aperture setting was, but I will guess f/3.6 or even wider. With that setting you cannot expect sharper focus on the bowl but I think this is perfect as you have captured it. The depth of field is great and allows the eye to be drawn to the details of the ladle. A very nice shot - Rated 6 by me.

Shawn, you hit the 3.6 on the head....that's as low as my lens goes.  I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to spring for one that goes to maybe 1.7.  My old Minolta 50mm was a 1.7 and I got some great shots with it.
