Beautiful image Dave! Excellent composition, wonderful contrast between the warm golden light, and the cool blue shadow ares.

All the best,

Neil

Dave, Very good lighting. I love the little ice fingers in the foreground. I first saw this lake in 1963. Back then the glacier, now out of sight, stretched almost all the way across the lake. Thanks for posting. -Dan

Very nice composition, with the rising sun illuminating and adding warmth to the foreground rocks, the frosted rocks and ice along with the mist are all attractive elements that contribute to a very aesthetically pleasing scene.

Kind Regards

Gorgeous photo Dave. I like the details in the foreground, the freezing water around the rock the texture of the stones. I also like the fog/mist rising over the water and the clouds around the mountain. One has a sense of cold while viewing this but mixed with a warm feeling of calmness and serenity from the warmth of the sun rising behind the peak. Great perspective and excellent composition. I love the contrast between cool and warm......the sun flare is just the perfect touch! Nicely done. If what Dan says is true about the glaciers retreating that fast, I'd better get to Alaska soon!

Nicely done Dave.

I have photographed Portage many times and never come up with such a unique or impressive shot as this. I recognized it immediately but because this shot is the same I've always seen. Very inspiring body of work. Thanks for Sharing. I'd love to shoot with you sometime.
