papasan 0 Posted November 27, 2009 Hi Linda. This is a really nice capture. I like your composition and the colors. I have made a few little adjustments with color curves to bring out a bit more brilliance in your shot and i also sharpened a little. I hope you dont mind. There is no right or wrong here, just different options i wanted to share with you. Regards - michel Link to comment
alfbailey 2 Posted November 27, 2009 The colours alone are a very attractive element, with a good DOF and the water droplets just putting the icing on the cake!Nice work! PS (I wondered why they call them "Crab Apples" who ever seen a crab eating an apple) :- ) Warm Regards Alf Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted November 28, 2009 Vibrant red crab apples, living-giving force of water, autumn splendor. Lovely, and the imperfections of dark spots on the leaves, etc. just make it all the more beautiful Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted November 28, 2009 Michel, thank you for the adjusted image. I don't mind it all in fact I am always flattered when someone takes the time and has the interest to do this. I like it. I has a bit more punch than the original. I really like the way the water droplets really stand out in your version. Have a great weekend. Alf, ha, ha, ha, ha...I don't where the "crab" comes from. Their taste is very bitter and sour. My grandmother used to pickle them, but I don't think anyone does that today. Thanks for stopping by. Best wishes. Donna, thank you so much for that lovely comment. It is always good to hear from you. Link to comment
papasan 0 Posted November 28, 2009 A quick search through Google and from http://www.takeourword.com/TOW174/page2.html i found: "There are two thoughts about the origin of [the name] crab in this sense. The first notes that the Scottish form is scrab or scrabbe, seemingly from a Norse source, as there is Swedish skrabba "fruit of the wild apple tree". This would suggest that crab and crabbe are aphetic forms of a much older word. The other possibility is that it derives from crabbed, which itself means, etymologically, "crooked or wayward gait of a crab" and the several figurative senses that follow from that (disagreeable, contrary, ill-tempered, or crooked). One of those senses might have been applied to the fruit of the crab apple: not right, not pleasant, ill-flavored (because crab apples are very sour and astringent)." I thought this was interesting. I have 3 crabapple trees on my property and their main use is for the deer that come to eat them [much to the delight of my kids] in the summer, but i never bothered to find out where the name came from... until now :) Thanks for your reply Linda, i always hesitate before "messing" with someone else's picture but i'm glad you dont mind and i'm happy you like my version. warm regards michel Link to comment
mbh 0 Posted November 28, 2009 Delightful colors, beautiful image. Those drops of water combined with the fall colors of the leave drew me in and had me spending several moments just enjoying the lush feeling of this macro; great job. Link to comment

f1_young 0 Posted November 29, 2009 Beautiful capture. I like the colors, but there is that suspension of the water drops while we wait in anticipation for one or two to drop that gives the picture energy. Very nice work. Link to comment

karolostrivizas 2 Posted December 4, 2009 The golden tones of the Autumn leaves contrast nicely against the vibrant red of the apples......... Clarity, crisp details (especially in the crystal like drops), and rich tonality........... It is a very successful close up imge Linda…7/7…my warm congrats. Link to comment
