icnavagata 0 Posted August 18, 2005 Nice b/w portrait! I should like to make this into a pencil drawing. Link to comment

jayme 0 Posted September 1, 2005 Derek- I think this is a wonderfully moody B&W image. I really like the composition and the texture and detail on the hat is great. My only suggestions would be to sharpen the eyes, mouth and hat and soften the skin tones just a little. I hope you don't mind, but it's so much easier to show you what I mean than just tell you. I sharpened in PS and ran it through "Neat Image". Then via a layer and layer mask I sharpened the hat edge, eyes, mouth & slightly on the nose while leaving the smoothing of neat image. All in all this is an excellent portrait. I like the negative space, it works well. Link to comment
igla 25 Posted September 3, 2005 This is the most constructive opinion i have got so far. This i my first portrait. You did amassing job on PS, I have a lot to learn yet. The camera I use has limited qualities, but that's not an excuse. I will try to polish my creativity untill I'll be able to aford better equipment. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted September 10, 2005 Derek- you are very welcome. What I did was easy because the over all image was so terrific! Wish I'd have taken it! Link to comment

david_cassidy2 0 Posted May 15, 2006 There is NOTHING wrong with this image. The softness or lack of sharpening does not detract from this at all. It is wonderful in composition, lighting, and expression. A wonderful image all around. Link to comment
ianbartlett 0 Posted February 7, 2021 I love the lighting for this photo. I agree with tripaldi rocco that this would be a great reference for a graphite work of art. Link to comment
