The brown tone is a judicious choice; the child is lovely and the contrast is: p e r f e c t. I'm captivated... totally! Great great shot!

Yes, I agree, the lighting from underneath works very well in this context, adding a sense of awe to the child's expression. There appear to be some slightly overblown areas, but the expression captured is so much more important.

There is a nice expression in his eyes. It seems he likes to concentrate, maybe even enjoy it. A kind of paradox, there are elements of relaxing and concentrating in his face. Well done!

as you probably know, this type of lighting is normally used in horror pictures and movies to achieve the desired scary effect. I would have normally said, how dare you give such a young child such big bags under the eyes :)But, in this case it works so well to accentuate the eyes and make them even more prominent and bigger than they already are. As the slightly hot chin, John is right, it's inconsequential to the over effect.

Cheers.

I like this expression, those peaceful eyes quietly looking. Lighting is great too.

Beautiful! Wonderful! Sweet! Those eyes and that expression are adorable. I love your choice of lighting for this image. It is subtle, yet striking at the same time. Composition is perfect! Respect, Tina
