Karol to tell you the truth I am not to crazy about the background myself and well the dead branches she is standing on too, but the bird looks good to me and I tried to Compose it nice. ;o) lol. Looks like a female RWBB, perhaps a young one. For sake of comparison, here's a shot of a breeding female (note darker coloration). Could be a matter of color variation based on locality too, but I have a feeling this is a younger bird. Nice photo! -Greg-

Very nice composition, David! I think you are right, this is a female Red-winged blackbird. I like the background -- it shows the habitat of the bird. Colors and sharpness are also very nice!

Sharp work David ! I like the tonal qualities of the bird and branch where its perched. Then seeing the natural surroundings really makes this for me.
