ZuikoD 0 Posted July 16, 2005 Hi Amar, this picture looks as if it was shot in the '20s. A moviestar perhaps? peace Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted July 17, 2005 Very sultry and inviting feel to this. I'm not sure about the blur on the hand as it looks a little too strong for the depth of field I would expect from the rest of the shot. Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted July 18, 2005 Thank you Suchi and Colin for your thoughts. Colin, I hadn't though about the blur on the hand, thanks for bringing it to my attention. Link to comment
fj5 0 Posted July 26, 2005 This shot reached out to me the most in your recent folder. Very pretty! I find myself captivated by the rather sharp curl of her hair in comparison to the rest of the image which seems almost dreamy. I would say, however, that for my taste, I feel there's just a bit too much... dream. Did you use smudge for that effect? Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted July 26, 2005 Thanks FJ. No it wasn't the smudge tool. I first made a layer copy using Alt-J. I then applied a Gaussian Blur - although I can't quite remember anymore how much. I then reduced the opacity to about 40-50% (again I'm unsure about the exact amount. I then used the eraser tool and worked away the lips, the eyes...pretty much everything but her skin. I then merge the layers. It's likely that I added more Gaussian blur at that point. I know what you mean about the excess of "dream" - I consider it whether I should have toned it down, but I just loved too much how it came out. Link to comment

dchatter 0 Posted November 6, 2005 Amarji, first of all this is a beautiful portrait, I love the tone, the lighting, the muted shadows, and the overall peaceful mood. Second of all, I agree with F.J. about the ``dreaminess'' part. This is highly subjective and personal, but for me too there is a little more blur. Finally, I have the following nitpicking about her eyes. The right eye contains the reflection of some white object, extending right onto the cornea; the cornea of the left eye is partially obscured by a lock of hair. This renders a sort of asymmetry IMHO. Had that lock of hair obscuring the left eye continued further, it would be better perhaps. If the white reflection on the right cornea is cloed out (e.g.), the eyes will probably be more balanced---a pair of little reflections on each. Link to comment
