I agree. The model on the left could carry the picture by herself. The two together are somewhat distracting of the simple grace the left one shows.

I believe Ben felt the model on the left does have enough grace to carry the entire image herself, I agree and the resultant space (uncropped) would add a dreamy emptiness

Hey Haleh, interesting image. I think people might be reacting to a difference in expression between the two models. The one on the right looks "harder", and "darker". And maybe positioned just a bit more awkwardly. The two models seem to clash is how I'm interpreting the comments. I'm just guessing.

hi

i think this is a beautifull picture, because of the different feelings that are caused by it. if you know what i mean. its like feeling if it's raining or if sun is shining...the only thing i don't like is that there is no symetrie between them..i mean there position..it seems to me that the photographer prefers the sun ;)

I am just having fun with all that sunshine and rain have created! I finally got a decent critique going on! Hurray!

My concept of using these two models with a title such as "sunshine and rain" was demonstrating our ability to judge people the same way we judge the weather. Rain represents darkness and distance and sunshine does the opposite.

I would not have understood the sunshine and rain from looking at the picture but having read your comments it makes perfect sense.....rick

I want to make a comment and yet make it come across as positive. I think that the picture is superb, but both the expressions, unfortunately, spoil it. You cannot photograph glamour with a morose look on the face. A highly commendable effort anyway. This looks terrible, I will have to come back and change the wording.

No. Don't change a thing! What you said is your observation. My mission is not to always get a cheery reaction.

I was afraid you would say that. :-) Then maybe the picture is working exactly as intended. Maybe you can burn in the area around the model to the right - darken the image around her to more convey the darker mood? The model on the left - in her position - seems to dominate the composition - making the darker mood model seem out of place. Or maybe we're all just positive and optimistic on photo.net? :-)

The darker area is dark enough without being too obvious. Photo.neters are just like sunshine and rain too!
