gav_davies 0 Posted June 7, 2005 Taken at the Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur. The reflections in the eyes are of the steps that lead up to the temple in the caves at the top. Link to comment
mcfour 0 Posted June 8, 2005 Compliments very beautiful the sadness in the eyes.. Lens? Link to comment
pboden 0 Posted June 9, 2005 I love the amount of fine detail. Very sharp. What lens did you use? Can you offer any other technical details? I also love the expression... A look of uncertainty, but at the same time a feeling of safety, having a parent near by. Link to comment
gav_davies 0 Posted June 9, 2005 Thanks for all the comments, very much appreciated. :0) I used a Canon 100-400mm IS lens @ 400mm, F5.6, 1/200 sec, ISO400 Link to comment
pmj 6 Posted July 4, 2005 This image has been selected for discussion. It is not necessarily the "best" picture the Elves have seen this week, nor is it a contest. It is simply an image that the Elves found interesting and worthy of discussion. Discussion of photo.net policy, including the choice of Photograph of the Week should not take place here, but in the Site Feedback forum. When including images, please make sure they are relevant to the discussion, not more than 511 pixels wide, sufficiently compressed and make sure to enter a caption when uploading. carlos miguez 0 Posted July 4, 2005 I meet reflected in these eyes, in this gesture, in this vulnerability, in this support in the mother... It is clear that they and we are the same thing. Link to comment

amalsircar 2 Posted July 5, 2005 Excellent image. Very sharp and the reflection of the steps on the eyes are superb. I have taken a similar pic recently. But this image is far far better. Link to comment
hot74 0 Posted July 5, 2005 Just excellent. Impressive expression. Love, protection, anxiety; fellings that we know shared across the species spectrum. Brilliant texture, interesting reflection. I mean it is hard to say anything negative for me - all the elements have combined as they should have and that is just beautiful. Link to comment
gav_davies 0 Posted July 5, 2005 "Well, why did you crop his/her hand? Personally I think the focal point of the photo are the eyes and these totally detract from the cropped hand - I'm happy with the cropping. To be honest, it had to be cropped somewhere anyway so where would you suggest Paulo? Thanks for all the other comments, Gav Link to comment
cmphoto 0 Posted July 5, 2005 More emotional than words can say. You have a wonderful portfolio! Link to comment
jay weston 0 Posted July 5, 2005 Great shot. I'd like to know more about the sharpness in this shot, is it the eyes that make the whole shot seem sharp or is it something else? 1-400mm zoom lenses generally aren't known for their sharpness either are they? Have you done anything special or is it just "standard" autofocus/post sharpening? Link to comment
