Wagner Falls, Spring

WJT

For a World Class Chromira print of this and other subjects please visit my website at Yarmouth Lane Photography.
Exposure was 2 seconds at f22. Gitzo 1325/Acratech ball head. Adjusted in Ektaspace using Photoshop CS. I think this looks best in LARGER VIEW, if you have the time.
Honorable Mention in the 11th Annual Lake Superior Magazine Photo Contest.
First Place in the 2006 Erie Shores 23rd Annual Photo Competition (Nature Category).

Superb composition and detail. And with that large a piece of capture medium you can print 30x40 enlargements of fine arts gallery quality - something impossible with any digital camera today.

Thanks Robert! And indeed, that is exactly what I have done with this photograph. I printed, or rather, had it printed at West Coast Imaging with their Chromira printer on Fuji Crystal Archive in SuperGloss finish, at 24x30. The print turned out better than my expectations, if I say so myself. It is being framed this week. By the way, I also submitted an 8x10 SuperGloss in a contest for Lake Superior Magazine. It would be nice if it made a showing in the finals, but I'm not holding my breath. Thanks for the comments. Regards.

Thanks Rex! Yes indeed, I actually got published on this one; it really made my day. By the way, I heard that your 37 Cat Superboat is ready to fight it out with the Black Diamond at Baliani. Watch out the sharks! Regards.

Yes! Walter, congrats on your image being honorably mentioned! You have taken an excellent image, one that I still struggle with, of Wagner. Well deserved recognition of your talent. Congratulations! - Sean

Walter, The contrast is fine. I tried the PS 'shadows\highlights' feature and it does tend to lighten up the shadows a bit but with a loss of overall contrast, not good in my opinion. Perhaps some selective massaging in that very dark area upper right would solve the problem without affecting the rest of the shot. I viewed the winners of the competion you speak of and I think you were shortchanged. Unfortunately, I'm not a judge! :-) Best, LM.

Thanks Len. Of course I would have liked a higher placing, but I am not at all unhappy with the results. Wagner Falls is photographed a lot and the magazine's editors have probably seen this scene more times than I can guess. So, considering that and the fact that this was my first contest, I think I did okay. But let me tell you, the large print that I made and framed really looks great in my front hall! Regards.

Excellent Walter! I will have a different view of Wagner Falls for you to look at, should have the file tomorrow or Thursday. This is still one of the best Wagners images that I've seen. Congrats - Sean
