atkphotoworks 0 Posted June 2, 2005 Thank you Joe, Parvin, Colin and Suchi for your comments. Suchi, I have some more images with her in them and I will be posting them soon. I'm not sure if you meant more of her in this image or more images of her. Link to comment
ulka_mohanty 0 Posted June 3, 2005 Amar, I love the rich composition of this photo. You have given it the feeling of timelessness where one can keep studying the photo without tiring of it. Bravo! Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted June 3, 2005 Amar, this portrait is intense and sweet and the same time. I like how the light falls on the cheek and eye. Link to comment
michaelhills 0 Posted June 5, 2005 Amar, there is definitely a sense of timelessness about the image that is incredibly appealing to me. Also, I am drawn into the story of it - what is she thinking?... longing? loss? contentment? desire? Has she given up living? etc. The end result of your efforts on this capture is that the image speaks to viewers at different levels. Isn't that what good photography is all about? Amar, I have to ask what post processing you did on this. I like it. Compositionally, I feel that there is just a little too much 'extra' in the frame that detracts from the subject. I have attached my thoughts on the cropping. Tighter and more 'in your face'. Too much, do you think? Technically, it looks beautiful, except that regions of her cheek look a little blown out to me. By the way, you have used shallow DOF to great effect in this image. Great image overall :) Till later, friend. M :) Link to comment
marcobrivio 0 Posted June 6, 2005 Intense portrait with a beautiful use of DOF. Her dreamful look is great Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted June 6, 2005 Thanks Michael for your edit and your thoughts. I was thinking by the end of last week that the image could use some cropping much along the lines that you proposed in your edit. Nice work. However, I flip back and forth between yours and mine. At the end of the day, I like both. As to post processing - there wasn't much that I did as I recall. I shot this originally in black and white and merely adjusted the levels to get the sepia like effect. I may have sharpened the image as well. Link to comment
michaelhills 0 Posted June 10, 2005 Amar, I just thought to let you know that another way you could shoot this would be to have the subject in the same position as above, but with her looking directly at the viewer. I think that will tell a different story. What do you think? M Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted June 10, 2005 That would make an interesting alternative, I'll see if we can try it out the next time I see her. Link to comment
dchatter 0 Posted October 23, 2005 Amarji, first of all this is a most beautiful portrait... for me this is more---an abstraction; among my favourites. Lovely tone. Second of all, her eyes attract all my attention... that reflection of the light source is magic. How am I to interpret her gaze---poignant? romantic? reflective? Perhaps it is this open-ended characteristic that is most adorable in this shot. I'ld love to see the eye sharper. Third of all, a little nit-picking: I am unable to appreciate the sharp features of the blanket towards the bottom right. I guess this was inevitable, but perhaps can be faded out during post-processing. Finally, a little more details on the blown-out cheek would be great. Link to comment
michaelhills 0 Posted October 24, 2005 Amar, just had to say I agree with Debasish's comments. M :) Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted October 24, 2005 Debji and Michael, thanks for your thoughts. First, I'll start with the blanket on the bottom right - I agree and I don't think that it adds much - ie. the sharpness. I also like it when an image leaves open the room for multiple possibilities for interpretation. I'm glad that you can see them and you too Michael. So happy to see both of you visit and provide me some comments. Link to comment
