atkphotoworks 0 Posted May 30, 2005 Thanks Suchi. I didn't know there was a classic Amar Khoday approach. :-) Oblivious fool that I am. Glad you liked it. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted May 30, 2005 I like this shot - the empty space to the right makes this stronger, imo. Sepia works well, too. Link to comment

paula grenside 0 Posted May 31, 2005 Amar, your hands photos are among my favorites. This one with the focus on the tattooed hand and the gentle fading is particulrly effective. Link to comment
bens 0 Posted May 31, 2005 Hi Amar, very beautiful toning, like this toning better than the other version I commented on. sometimes i do different crops of the same photo to give different looks. have you considered also coming in tight oh this one, around the bracelets and the principal hand? might be interesting as well, in addition to, not in place of, this one. dem_photos 0 Posted May 31, 2005 Beautiful composition, and it's good to see someone dare to use soft focus appropriately. Aapke sare photo mujhe pasand hain. Aapke critique ke lie shukriya. Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted May 31, 2005 Thanks Pnina, Paula, Ben and David. Pnina, I agree that the image has a gentle feel to it, partly I guess because of the blur, but also, I think that the fingers in the foreground seem to have a "light" feel to them. I don't know if that made sense. Paula, I am glad you like the series and I think it is one of my favourite bits of work so far. Ben I tried another tone with this but preferred this one. On a lot of images that I like, I like to see them in at least three versions - colour, B&W and some further modified toning like sepia and/or some other flavour. This one just happened to suit my fancy more. Lastly, your suggestion re: the crop is a good one which I may try out. David, aapke comment ke lie, bahut bahut shukriya! Aapne Hindi kab aur kis se sikhi? Aapke snake ke tasveer dekhkar, main aapke sare portfolio dekhne chahta hun. Phir milenge aur shubh din. Link to comment
dem_photos 0 Posted June 1, 2005 Amar--I'd like to answer in Hindi, but it would probably take me all day! I am mostly self-taught in Hindi, and still very slow, particularly since I practice much less now that I've taken up photography. Why Hindi? I think we in the U.S. have a lot to learn from the world's largest democracy. It fascinates me that two countries can at once be so similar and so different. Plus, I have developed a fondness for Bollywood movies. Phir milenge aur shubh din--I like that (I had to look up shubh). Link to comment
karina_a 0 Posted June 2, 2005 Beautiful intimacy in this whole series, and I love this one too. I tried some shots of my hands when I had them henna'd in India, but I wasn't happy with them - they weren't anywhere near this lovely. Your images have a lovely sensibility and aesthetic. The light is gorgeous. Thanks for your helpful comments & looking at my portfolio too! Link to comment
