Tried to 'improve' it in PS, but I only made a mess...if you have

time, plz tell what would make it look ok.

The pose and the childs expression are very good. the washed out background should be darkened substantially.

I think it looks great as it is. The white background doesn't bother me at all. You could of course redo the shot with different backgrounds but ...
