I know his hat is a bit burnt out (if i was good on Photoshop I'd try and fix it) but I hope it

still works.

The bright sky is completely blown out, I think a fill flash would have helped a bit with the exposure. Or maybe a different angle that didn't look up into the bright sky. I'm no photoshop expert but I think that overexposure is one of those things that can not be "fixed". It would have to be manipulated by adding a sky.

I like it.

The top part is a little burnt out but don't go to photoshop just work on your skills as a photographer.

As soon as you strat photoshoping the crap out of your photos you loose your titel as a photographer in my book because they are two completly different things.

So next time if there's alot of highlites in your frame underexpose it a half stop or so from what the metter says and keep shootin' you'll get better.

I shot up towards the sky because I liked the way the tree echoed the old boy's posture. I took a few different angles but this was the most intimate.

Excellent point of view that makes the difference with a "tourist snapshot". About the sky, what I would like to add, coming out from my personal experience, is that your problem isn't photoshop but the scanning. The Dmax of the best scanner I know isn't enough strong to find materials in the blacks of a contrasted negative B&W film. So the only way to change this is ... practice of traditional darkroom and scan of the argentic print. But please don't add an artificial sky !!!!

Oh, my gosh, I have a picture of this same guy. AND, there's a photo of him in one of my picture books on Asia. You have to wonder if he knows how many times his photo appears all over the world. ... In fact, the only reason I took his photo was because I was trying to tell him I'd dropped my sunglasses in the dust, and he thought I was trying to ask him for his picture and he struck a pose. Now we know why.

I think he's a bit of a "star" as he appeared on the cover of the Lonely Planet Guide!
