Interesting portrait, Intense. Colors play well chosen to convey that feeling. The eyes, which are the most important part of the image are in a dark part of it stressing the mood. DOF is very apropiated but in my monitor the eyes are a bit out of focus, I think they should be sharper.

This is very moody for colour though I suppose in a way it's effectively duotone. Interesting physiognomy, simultaneously serious and jesting. I too think that the dof is good but that some parts could be sharper, e.g. the eyes as Guillermo suggests.

Nicely done.

Thanks for the comments - I really appreciate it - I guess I was struggling with DOF on this as I wanted both the glasses and eyes in focus but then wanted to blow out the rest (for intensity). I ended up using the glasses' frame as my absolute focus point which then resulted in the eyes going slightly soft. This was a bit of a disappointment to me. Possibly I should have used a different lens here and zoomed, but only had the 50mm with me at the time.... live and learn I guess!

Good. Following the suggestions above and slightly changing the tone. Better? Regards. Blago

I certainly think it enhanced the mood! quite interesting to change the hue-cast of the image...

This is quite simply an awesome portrait with tons of character. I can't offer much in the way of a critique but it would be rude not to say anything.

Well done indeed. (If I may say so, the darker version is a little better.)

many thanks David and Andrea.... yeah I could have made it darker (and I agree it does work well in b&w), will try that for next time and see how it helps the mood!

anyone wanna go into the whole double catch lights debate? (just kidding)

Since the eye thing has been mentioned and the color spectrum seems to be hit upon I will just chime in with well achieved.
