Guest Guest Posted May 10, 2005 A dreamlike atmosphere... graceful lines of your body, particularly of your neck. Great composition : our look is caught by the mask and it follows line of your hand, of your arm, of your face, and it go back the mask. We can "read" this shot into a circle, through your thoughts... Well done. Your lighty skin is well constrated with the dark tones of the background. Beautiful and well tought light in the left upper corner. "Merveilleux". Link to comment

antonbar 0 Posted May 11, 2005 Soft, sad and beautiful. I have a feeling that she uses this mask to hide her genuine inner sadness. Link to comment

pmj 6 Posted January 23, 2006 This image has been selected for discussion. It is not necessarily the "best" picture the Elves have seen this week, nor is it a contest. It is simply an image that the Elves found interesting and worthy of discussion. Discussion of photo.net policy, including the choice of Photograph of the Week should not take place here, but in the Site Feedback forum. When including images, please make sure they are relevant to the discussion, not more than 511 pixels wide, sufficiently compressed and make sure to enter a caption when uploading. bens 0 Posted January 23, 2006 Well, I guess I'll be "controversial" on this one. I don't really understand this photo, and it doesn't particularly move me. I feel a little manipulated actually. The subject is a beautiful young woman dressed very fashionably in some sort of veil and a low cut dress (negligee?), holding a nondescript mask. I don't know what to make of it, and question the use of fashion and beauty in so obvious a manner if some deeper meaning is intended. Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted January 23, 2006 As a self portrait I feel it to be an outstanding and imaginative piece of work. The veil, expression and mask all come together very well. This coming from someone who is absolutely terrible at self shots. My only nit would be the neck seems overly long and a bit strained. BTW, congrats on being chosen for POW Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 23, 2006 Very fine...evocative. I understand the title's "sanctuary," but how is it illicit? Your face seems pensive or curious, or perhaps even lured into the mask, but he mask looks depressed, tragic. I can imagine a beautiful woman hiding something behind a negative mask, perhaps abandoning her fullest expression...but why would she do that? It wouldn't be "illicit"so much as, um, deceptive or self-denying. The photo raises those questions for me...that means it's powerful. Nice work. Do more. Link to comment
