vlad po... 1 Posted May 8, 2005 Wow, looks impressive! Fg IMHO a little bit busy. Not sure, but may guess that you can try to split into two seperate parts, upper 1/3 and lower 2/3. The bridge with the silhouetts stands itself. The lower part with the reflections and the kayaker also may look interesting as a separate image. Did you try that? Nevertheless, I like it as is too. tsavo 0 Posted May 8, 2005 I think both the cityscape (bridge & bystanders) and the growth (sorry dunno what these things are called) work well. Not sure what to make of the foreground. It has come out a bit too artificial. But good pic overall. Link to comment
galina stepanova 0 Posted May 9, 2005 Very interesting opinions, thank you both, Vlad for the idea, would probably never come to my head and James for making me doubting about foreground, since the idea was just to capture those colorful reflections. I understand the image is too busy, but it is hard to chose what to crop. Thanks again, very helpful! Link to comment
christian.s.mendes 0 Posted May 9, 2005 Beautiful image. I sugest crop it to put the sun at the center of the shot. Regards Link to comment
audrey lee reid 0 Posted May 9, 2005 Hi Galina, This picture is full of drama, the busy foreground contrasting with the tranquil orange sunset holds the eye firmly. I too, find Vlad's idea of dividing the image into two a interesting one. I too would not have thought of that :) Link to comment
michelguyot 0 Posted May 15, 2005 Well known bridge.. :)In spite of the interesting suggestion of the others, I can't find a better cropping than yours here. Trying out to crop something is to lose something of this finely balanced image too.As for busy: a lot of things to look at, but not busy in my opinion, the silhouttes making simple what could have been busy.Without the fuzzy reeds in the lower right corner, this was completely perfect for me. sammm 0 Posted May 18, 2005 Good stuff here! This is one of those shots that deserves to be blown up really large, and would have been great in large format. I agree that I can't find a better crop; I wonder if you have other shots from the same time, and whether there are any alternate framings that are broader. I debate a bit about the reeds in the bottom right, but ultimately think they add depth to the shot. And that boater on the right in the reeds is great. Link to comment
galina stepanova 0 Posted May 19, 2005 Thanks to everyone for support and interesting analyses.Sam: no more shots, sunset in this wild south is very fast action, while I looked for better place to take another shot, the sun with all colors was gone, as well as kayaker... Link to comment
