Guest Guest Posted April 28, 2005 There is only one place in the world, that a town is build on a solid Volcano Rock. There is only one place in the world with hundreds of small houses mixed together in a complex came from a dream. There is only one place in the world with streets that lead you to the sky, after visited the sea. There is only one place in the world that you need only two colours to make the perfect composition. Blue and White. There is only one place in the world where the people open their doors to give you a smile with a home made sweet, they made for you, even never met you again. There is only one place in the world that has this view... Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to Oia, the Jewel of Greece. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 28, 2005 Read the Story, let your eyes free and walk inside the photo with the wind in your hair and the whispers of a place, with thousands of years in it's shoulders... Awaiting your words, feelings, comments. Michael Link to comment

j_doyle 0 Posted May 5, 2005 Michael, I love your photos of Greece! I traveled to Europe after college in 1969, did the Grand Tour. And by far, the most beautiful place I've ever been on earth is Greece. I have photos on my walls of a little town on Crete, Agia Galini, a place I call Heaven. And I've never met more hospitable and generous people as those I met in Greece. They would give you the shirt off their backs if you needed it...or even if they just thought you needed it. One day, I hope to see Greece again. Your photographs remind me of the beauty of your country and people. Thanks for these photos! Regards, Joanne Link to comment
christos 0 Posted May 10, 2005 for starters: very good angle, i also enjoy the details and the light.. But... although i like much in the composition, i feel strange about the sky colouration: it's rather an unnecessary burden and makes me wonder why... even find it abit disturbing!.. Actually this is an element so much more manifested in the other pics of this folder.. how could i call it?.. Let's say, i think many pics here "suffer" from some kind of extreme idealisation, the calendar-wanna-be photo, the bourgeois tourist blues... Then i look at the folder's tiltle 'faces of Greece' and thee colourful works involved.. sorry but for me it's abit hmm.. arbitrary... these pics rather portray some general or ideal place in your mind (don't we all?) and not facets of something particular or real like Greece... What I mean is that I don't feel or get a different or deeper, your personal and yet insightful, knowledge/perception of the place... (Additionally, the lack of human element is interesting, yet the simplistic themes are often anticipated by overwhelming buckets of emotion through intense warm/cold colours and emotionally charged symbols)... Ok, overall, every work is idiosynchratic but honestly is decoration -supported by pumped up emotion- your main aim in showing a place?... i have to ask all those because this latter comes to me as the strongest element (obviously not the only one but disproportionally the strongest).. I also hope you appreciate some critique from a different point of view, one that wants to encourage the communication of a more "textured" picture, of the one that feels truly lived-in. Doug Keller 0 Posted May 15, 2005 Hello Michael. This might be my favorite of the folder. I know from my brief visits to Greece just how hard it is to find that perfect angle... the one that captures the charm of a village. You've done it here. The town looks almost like a toy... as if you personally placed each structure. I also like how the harsh overbright light of Greece has been tastefully warmed with the yellow hues. Very attractive image... like a dream. Link to comment
labuenaluz 0 Posted May 18, 2005 GREAT photograph, it shows Greece at its best, with her Mediterranean soul. The composition with the gate and blue door is amazing! also DOF and colors, it would look great also with the white clouds! nice work again Michael! Cheers, Rafael Link to comment

maria 7 Posted June 30, 2005 I find more than just blue and white in Santorini, but never mind :) What I like about this photo are the clouds. One expects to see the Gods appearing on them in every moment. regards Maria Link to comment
