nick_grossman 0 Posted March 26, 2005 Is it a portrait? I mean this is a happy way: who cares! I would concentrate on whether you enjoy it or not and why than tryng to categorizing it. In the strictly classical sense, there's a candidness that makes it difficult for me to say whether it's a portrait or not, but that's what I like about it. If she had a fixed, controlled expression, I don't think this photo would do much for me. What makes me love it is that her personality is really coming through. My only complaint is that it's a little over-exposed. If she was against a flat white background, this high-key exposure could work well. Since she's against trees, and we have a more literal expectation of how they should be exposed, it isn't as effective. But personally, I go more on how a photo makes me feel than technical perfection, and the exposure isn't getting in the way of my enjoyment of your shot. Link to comment
