bkferg 0 Posted April 30, 2005 I finally got her to stand still long enough for me to take this shot. Comments? Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted May 12, 2005 I like the composition, I only wish her eyes were less in shadow. Link to comment
maurik 0 Posted May 14, 2005 Very nice moment and nice composition, cute child. Have you considered using Fill-in flash? This can really help at times, though I find it difficult to master just right (and keep the light looking natural). Link to comment
bkferg 0 Posted May 18, 2005 Thanks for the comments. I would have tried the flash, but she was a good 15-20 yards away and I didn't think it would have benefitted me. I was against that Richmond hat, but she insisted on wearing it-thus shadows. I will keep trying. Link to comment
maurik 0 Posted May 18, 2005 About the flash, it actually will help from quite some distance! It depends on the equipment of course, and depends also quite a bit on your f-stop. This is why a high flash synch can be so important, it allows your flash to contribute to the lighting even if the scene has plenty of light. If you took this with a decent flash, at 30 feet, f/6 or wider, the flash would have filled in well. Some wildlife photographers use flash while also using huge tele lenses.Yes, please do keep trying, it will be nice to see more such bright faces. Link to comment
