atkphotoworks 0 Posted February 14, 2005 Thank you both. Amalji for the suggestion in the first place, it made it a much stronger image. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted February 17, 2005 Yes the crop strengthens the shot. Nice study of the hand and suggesting a mind reading and another watching. Link to comment
the grey house 0 Posted February 28, 2005 Superb image Amar - I like the highlights - strikes me as a great contender for a good stock photography site. Regards Paul... Link to comment

jennea 0 Posted May 15, 2005 I at first thought I would like it better cropped, but once I saw the cropped version I was not as drawn into the image. I actually think the blown out part forces the eye to the pointed finger which then makes you look at the child's hands. Beautiful storytelling. Link to comment
michaelhills 0 Posted May 27, 2005 Agree with J Moore on the crop. I prefer it as is. The blown out portion does not bother me at all. It serves to enhance the story-telling - that of a child and a man sitting at the edge of sunlight, enjoying each other's company. You have also given the image a wonder tonality. What process did you employ to get this result? Excellent image and one I'm sure your cousin will treasure. M Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted May 27, 2005 Michael, thanks for your thoughts on this. It's amazing the effect a crop can make to an image and how different people will view it. I still haven't completely decided which crop I like the best. Unfortunately, I still haven't gotten this out to him - something that will be remedied soon. Link to comment
michaelhills 0 Posted May 29, 2005 Yes, cropping can drastically alter one's perception of an image. And I too find it fascinating that the same image can elicit such a range of responses from viewer's. I think people either like blown out highlights, or they don't. As you know, same perceptions with my 'little girl (look Mum, an aeroplane!)' image. Hooray to human variety! :) M Link to comment
