I'm rather happy with how this aerial shot turned out. But I also played with it in B&W. Which do you think is more effective?

What a majestic and desolate spot this is. Is that a lake in front of the line of hills? I almost always vote colour (so my view maybe doesn't count) but here I think the colour helps the contours of the land stand out. I like the trees bottom right as they help indicate scale.

It's a tough choice since I like both versions. I think I am going to go with the B&W because that version adds a bit of personality to the image.

Definitely the color version. Being a lover of alpine terrain I lock on to the reality of the subject ... fantastic! I must go there some day.

Amelia Earhart are you? ^_^

I like the black & white because it better reveals the tonality of the image. The color version is good in a sense that it more effectively shows what a wonderfully sunny and clear day that was, but the variaties of color tone (I like it a bit warmer,) and saturation level make it more difficult to please the mass. Hey, if you like it as is, that's what really matters, IMO. ^_^

I prefer the b&w image. To me it accents the desolation of the location. Nice work in both cases, though, Lou Ann.

I like it because I can imagine being there. I might desat it a bit, since the sky isn't usually that blue near the horizon, but the foreground is fascinating to me--but, then, I'm a mountain freak.

My choice is the coloured version. (though B/W has it's own beauty)Colour lets me see the different textures & layers of the mountaines & sky more vividly.

Beautiful place. Looking at both the color and the B&W version I prefer the B&W one more as it has a different mood and surreal and soothing look. Good composition. The color version looks good too.

Kind regards.

An area dear to my heart. I love the perspective you bring to this area while flying overhead. Here's a ground-eye view from the Southern end of Lake Aloha looking towards Pyramid Peak on the left. What's amazing is that there are a lot more up and down canyons on the ground than there ever appear from the air! Hope you get a chance some time to fly over the Southern Sierra many more 14,000 ft peaks and stark scenery like this.

Much more stark and moon-like in the Black and White. Are you riding or in control of the aircraft Lou Ann? What seems so amazing to me is that the images from the air are all so clear! Are you open to the air (or lack of it!) outside?

Believe it or not, Avatar, all of these aerial pictures were taken through the plexiglass windshield of the plane. I was the passenger, not the pilot ... but I certainly wish I knew how to fly!! I'm out of town for the next few days, but stop by early next week, and I'll try to include a picture of the bird that we were up in. It was a very unique experience for me. Thank you for your positive comment!!

Okay ... I'm back. Had a great time ... but took no pictures. ;-) Anyway ... back to this plane ride. Here's a picture of the plane that we rode in when I took this series of shots. The woman at the propellor is the pilot and the man in the background with the camera is my uncle who treated me to the fare. (Thanks, Uncle Bob!!!)
